The BNB Smart Chain has successfully implemented its Fermi Upgrade, reducing block times from 0.75 seconds to 0.45 seconds—a 40% improvement. This positions the blockchain among the fastest Ethereum-compatible networks available. Validators completed the transition smoothly, with all mainnet nodes now operating on version 1.6.4.

The upgrade prioritizes real-world performance, ensuring stability alongside speed. Faster block times translate to quicker transaction confirmations, smoother dApp interactions, and improved DeFi, gaming, and payment applications. The integration of BEP-590 strengthens finality, allowing transactions to be considered finalized in approximately one second.
